Mineralogie & Entstehung

Bronzit is a magnesium and iron-containing pyroxene mineral with the composition (Mg,Fe)SiO₃. It crystallizes in the orthorhombic system and belongs to the enstatite series. Its characteristic bronze luster is created by fine lamellae of iron hydroxide. Bronzit occurs in ultrabasic rocks and meteorites. Important locations include Brazil, South Africa, Austria (Styria), India, and the USA.

Pflege & Reinigung

Bronzit has a Mohs hardness of 5–6 and is moderately robust. It should be protected from strong impacts. Cleaning under running lukewarm water is ideal. For recharging, an amethyst geode or hematite stones are suitable. Direct sunlight exposure is harmless. Acids and harsh cleaning agents should be avoided.
