Meaning

Petrified wood is said to strengthen one's connection to the earth and a sense of belonging to our planet. It can also help maintain a sense of grounding and support one's sense of belonging, keeping one firmly grounded in life and remaining grounded in reality without drifting off into daydreams. Mineralogie & Entstehung

Petrified wood is a fossil where the organic material of trees has been replaced by minerals (mainly chalcedony/quartz, SiO₂) (petrification). Opal, pyrite, or calcite can also occur as petrifying minerals. The colors depend on the embedded minerals: iron oxides produce red/brown, manganese black, and chromium green. Significant locations include Arizona (Petrified Forest), Madagascar, Indonesia, and Argentina.<br>

Petrified wood has a Mohs hardness of 6.5–7 (as it is predominantly made of quartz). It is durable and easy to care for. Clean under running water, recharge in the sun or on rock crystal. Suitable for everyday use and uncomplicated.<br>

Verwechslungsgefahren & Qualität

Petrified wood is hardly confused due to its recognizable wood structures. Occasionally, it is compared to striped jasper, which does not show wood grain. It is reliably named in trade. Quality feature: well-defined annual rings and cell structures.<br>
